Algar Waterfalls and Guadalest from Benidorm: bus, jeep or quad?
Updated October 18, 2026 · 7 min read
The answer first. Take the coach if you want the lowest price and an easy day, the jeep if the journey through the mountains is part of the attraction, and the quad only if riding matters more than seeing both Guadalest and the waterfalls. The three products are not interchangeable.
Coach: best value for two landmarks
The Guadalest and Algar Waterfalls coach trip starts at €34, lasts 7–8 hours and has 873 reviews. It combines the hill village and Les Fonts de l’Algar, so it is the clearest first visit for most travellers. Another coach trip focused on the waterfalls starts at €28 and lasts 5–6 hours.
A coach removes parking and route-finding, but fixes your departure and return. Read the itinerary carefully: “entry” should be stated rather than assumed, and pickup may be at a meeting point instead of your hotel.
Jeep: the journey is part of the day
The guided jeep trip to Guadalest and Algar starts at €78, lasts 7–8 hours and has 620 reviews. Its premium is not simply transport. You are paying for a smaller-format mountain journey and a guide. It suits travellers who would find a normal coach day too passive.
The downside is equally clear: a jeep ride can be bumpier, noisier and less restful. Anyone with limited mobility, back concerns or difficulty climbing into a higher vehicle should ask the operator about the exact vehicle before booking.
Quad: choose the activity, not a checklist
The quad tour to the Algar Waterfalls starts at €150 and lasts three hours. It is an adventure activity with a waterfall destination, not a substitute for a full cultural day in Guadalest. Check licence, driver, passenger, clothing and deposit requirements on the booking page; do not assume that a normal excursion ticket covers them.
What the waterfalls are really like
Les Fonts de l’Algar is a managed natural site with paths, steps and bathing areas rather than a remote wilderness. The official visitor information warns that pushchair access is difficult because of numerous steps and changes in level. Free parking is available by the tourist office around 700 metres from the main entrance, but other parking areas may operate differently.
Water flow, temperature and swimming conditions vary. Take footwear with grip and follow on-site notices. A tour cannot guarantee comfortable swimming weather.
Our recommendation
For most first-time visitors, choose the named Guadalest-and-Algar coach trip: it covers both places at the lowest price among the full-day combinations here. Pick the jeep because you actively want its mountain-road experience, or the quad because riding is the purpose of your day. See all current choices under day trips from Benidorm.
