Alicante Airport to Benidorm: bus, taxi or transfer?
Updated October 18, 2026 · 6 min read
The answer first. Take the direct coach when its timetable fits your flight and your accommodation is easy to reach from the Benidorm stop. Choose a taxi or pre-booked transfer for a late arrival, a larger luggage load or door-to-door simplicity. Hire a car only when you will use it beyond the airport journey.
Direct coach: the default for many travellers
Aena lists a direct, non-stop coach connection between Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport and Benidorm, operated by Alsa. At the airport, Alsa says its buses leave from the upper level of the terminal rather than the ground-floor arrivals area. Check the live timetable and fare for your date, because both can change.
The coach is usually the cleanest balance of cost and effort for one or two adults. Its weakness is the final leg. Benidorm’s bus station or Avenida de Europa may still be some distance from your hotel, and a late arrival can turn a simple coach into a coach-plus-taxi journey. Map that last section before booking.
Taxi and private transfer
A taxi removes the timetable and takes you directly to the accommodation. Use the official airport rank and ask about the applicable fare. A pre-booked transfer gives you an agreed pickup arrangement, but you must read the waiting-time and flight-delay terms rather than assuming every company handles delays identically.
For a family or group, compare the total vehicle price with several coach tickets plus the final local transfer. Request the right child seat in advance and obtain confirmation; availability should never be assumed. Also check the vehicle size if you have pushchairs, wheelchairs or several large cases.
Tram via Alicante: possible, rarely simplest
There is no tram platform at the airport. Aena explains that bus C6 connects the terminal with Luceros in Alicante, where the TRAM network continues along the Costa Blanca to Benidorm. This can be useful if you are stopping in Alicante, but it adds a transfer and luggage handling. For a direct airport-to-hotel journey, the non-stop coach is normally more coherent.
When a rental car makes sense
Do not rent solely because the airport is outside Benidorm. Central Benidorm is walkable for many visitors and parking can become the inconvenient part of the holiday. A car makes more sense when you plan independent days to inland villages, rural trailheads or several Costa Blanca stops.
If that is your itinerary, compare car hire in Benidorm. Before paying, check the fuel policy, deposit, excess, CDW coverage, additional-driver charge and child-seat request with the supplier. No general article can promise the terms of your particular vehicle.
A decision by arrival type
Choose the coach for a daytime arrival with manageable luggage. Choose a taxi or transfer when you value a direct handover more than the saving, especially after a late flight. Choose the C6-plus-TRAM route only when Alicante itself is part of the plan. Choose a rental car because of the days after arrival, not because it looks like the only way out of the airport.
For travel beyond the resort, compare day trips from Benidorm before committing to a car for the whole stay.
